The Hardest News - Goodbye Too Soon

After suffering cardiac arrest last night in the ICU, Camilla simply couldn't recover. She passed away at noon Saturday, with Bain and Wayne at her side. This is such a shock for all of us, and we will miss her beyond words. Arrangements are incomplete.

Thank you for all your love, prayers, and support for Camilla over the past week, and we will appreciate your continuing thoughts and prayers as we come to terms with this tremendous loss in our family.

Medical Progress

At the moment, Camilla remains in the ICU, so her stay there is taking a bit longer than anticipated. She is now medically stable, for which we are all very thankful. She will likely move to a step down room sometime within the next 24 hours.

Your thoughts and prayers for Camilla and her family are needed and appreciated as she embarks on the hard & exhausting work of recovery.

Slow and Steady wins the race

Camilla is holding steady in the ICU - we were hoping for a sprint, but this is a marathon. The cardiac rehab team has her up and walking 6 times a day, but otherwise, she's taking a well-earned rest. Pain and exhaustion are the hallmarks of today's news, but both are being addressed. She's back on the pacemaker today, but we are optimistic that her own heart rhythm will take over once she is a few days post-op. Some extra prayers would be much appreciated. Leave messages and good wishes for her - we'll read them to her as soon as she can concentrate!

Wow - what great news!

Camilla's very talented cardiac surgeon was able to repair her mitral valve instead of replacing it! Then, he found that her aortic valve did not need repair or replacement - it was malfunctioning due to an aortic aneurysm. So... he fixed that with a graft, closed, and now she's in the home stretch. Watching atrial fibrillation, which may resolve or need a pacemaker, but we're so very fortunate to have such wonderful news.

Her ICU stay may be a bit longer than originally expected, but she's been up and walking already, and we are thrilled.

She's in recovery, and drs. expect a great result.

Camilla's doctor came out and let us know that the surgery was quite a success. He believes she'll do very well, and the family will be able to visit briefly in a couple of hours. It's been a long day for everyone but Camilla (she was blissfully unaware - at least for one day) and we appreciate all the prayers & good wishes.

Success!!!

Camilla is pumping her own blood now, and they are closing her incisions. It will be a while before the doctors come out to talk to the family, but we're THRILLED that she's doing so well. Recovery starts soon!
